to the
Carbon
Footprint Offsetting Partnership & Landscape-UK Project
A
national planting project founded in 2005 by nurserymen Richard Thorpe, business partner
of Hedging & Forestry UK and proprietor of R & N Plant Specialists with forty
years experience in both the growing and forestry industry - this project is today
encompassed with a national team of foresters and associated renewable energy companies.
The aim being to ensure we deliver an overall integrated environmental approach to those
in search of carbon offsetting and greener business declarations.
- As
commercial growers and suppliers of forestry trees and hedgerow plants by the millions we’re
talking pence to produce each plant.
- Our
commercial foresters are at the forefront of all major new plantings. With many registered
or voluntary carbon woodland projects which comply with the industries Woodland Carbon
Code (WCC) legislation. Thus assuring potential tree planting sponsors of a regulated
standard for biodiversity, ecological impact and subsequent carbon capture measurements.
- We
have a national network that extends our planting options through 567 UK sites, taking in
around 15,270 hectares. With your continued support and sponsorship, time and our on-going
planting program – our phase1 project will facilitate in excess of 20,000,000 native
forestry trees, 2020 miles of new hedgerows and the creation of 200 x 30 acre new
woodlands.
So
when we talk in £’s to plant on your behalf within our projects, we’ve got it
absolutely right.
And when collectively planting millions annually, we can do so much more than just
planting trees. As every forestry tree and hedgerow plant planted during this next decade
assigns £0.20 to fund UK School and Community Renewable Energy Projects. This ensures we
maintain our competitive edge over our competitors but more importantly together through
phase1 of the project, we will be assigning £15.5m into renewable energy projects here in
the UK - making ours a truly green and environmental project.
- Schools
and communities will benefit from renewable energy installations - cutting their fuel
bills and freeing up essential funds that we would like to see re-introduced into creating
healthier lifestyles and socially responsible activities.
- Our
renewable energy partners are actively working on our behalf to help install a variety of
systems where they are needed most here in the UK.
- These
renewable energy installations being eligible for the Feed in Tariff, allow us to
streamline our costs to sponsors, whilst still creating new woodlands and forests. This
also maintains the national UK network of our plantations with all surplus funds used for
additional planting schemes and further investment into renewable energy installations.
With several all inclusive planting options to select from, and costs
starting from only £1.40 per planted forestry tree whip or £3.95 per planted Mt hedgerow
of 5 native provenance plants. It really doesn’t cost the earth to participate.
